CAMP International & MSA National 1st Annual Muslim Leadership Summit
Date: Saturday, February 5 & Sunday, February 6, 2005
Venue: STAMP Student Union, University of Maryland, College Park Campus
Lodging at the Marriot Inn & Conference Center

Details: The ummah of the prophet Mohamed (PBUH), now over one billion strong and occupying lands all across the globe, longs to accomplish great things. It longs to bring peace and justice to humanity through the fulfillment of its mission as Allah's vicegerents on earth, and through the adoption of moderation and balance in all affairs. Yet, a wide chasm lies between vision and reality.

Our goal through the 1st Annual Muslim Leadership Summit is to help enable Muslim leaders reach their lofty aspirations. Our hope is to enhance the effectiveness of Islamic workers and organizations through training in leadership and management skills based on sound Islamic values. By helping others become better servants of Allah and then humanity, we hope that we will be a small part of a much greater effort to show the world the true face of Islam.

On our continual journey of Islamic knowledge, we must lead, not follow, but we first must learn, understand, and apply:
  • What are the components of Islamic leadership?
  • What are the characteristics of effective leaders?
  • How does one mobilize on a grassroots level?
  • How can a leader be a coach and mentor?
  • What is the role of Tarbiyah in Islamic leadership?
These questions represent the underlying focus of CAMP International's Muslim Leadership Summit: educating, encouraging, and empowering the next generation of Muslim leaders.
